A dark street is a dangerous crime area. We must make it a priority to deliver street lights to our communities. We must end the current policy of using lower income communities without street lights to qualify for State and Federal Grants for Street Lighting and use the funds for lights in other communities,
Not acceptable! All former grants will be reviewed and those communities which have been used to qualify for those grants will be placed a the head of the line for street lights. The bait and switch policy will end!
Commissioners will be appointed based on their ability to implemet this new and long over do program.

Federal Grants:
Through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant. For low and moderate incone census tracts $35K for a family of four.
Even if the CDBG is received, the City decides where the streetlights go. They don’t nessessarily goto the area originating the grant request. Community Devel. Department screens projects to see who gets the money.
